Maya Springboard Recap

Coming from a 2D Traditional/Flash background I am finding it a bit of a learning curve to switch into the third dimension. But I feel like my knack for computers is smoothing out the transition. I took a Maya Springboard class last semester from Oct-Dec 08 to get up to speed with the program. It can be a little intimidating at first, but once you focus on one aspect of the program, things become a little easier to digest. And lucky for me, I had a Mike Antonicelli to help teach me the ropes.

Below are 2 animation assignments from the springboard class.

ROBOT ARM

This Robot Arm was my first attempt at animation in Maya. There are some constraint issues with the clasping of the hand on the cylinder, but I felt pretty good about the results being a newbie and all.

JUMP STEP

The last animation assignment we had was to animate a leg stepping. I had a really hard time getting the land and settle to look right, I still feel like it looks weird.
